MORRIS KNOLLS-HILLS WINS WILD ONE FOR KEPLER’S 100TH WIN

In a game that appears to be a candidate for one of the wildest games in recent memory, Jake McCloud scored the game-winner in overtime to lead Morris Knolls-Hills to a 10-9 win over Hillsborough- and give coach Tim Kepler his 100th career victory.

Morris Knolls-Hills trailed, 5-1 in the second period, before Luke Dickerson, Michael Simone, and McCloud all scored power play goals in a span of 1:08 to trim the deficit to one. Dickerson then scored two more before the end of the period to give Knolls-Hills the lead.

The teams went back-and-forth in the third, with Knolls-Hills holding a 9-7 lead in the final minutes after Dickerson scored a power play goal. But Hillsborough’s Colin Marley scored a power play goal, before Jegor Sobolev forced overtime with a goal with seven seconds left in regulation.

But with 2:43 left in overtime, it was McCloud who buried his fourth goal of the game to seal the win. McCloud finished with four goals and two assists, while Luke Dickerson scored five times with an assist. Michael Simone chipped in with a goal and an assist and Dylan Williams recorded three assists.

Kepler, who took over as head coach for the 2016-17 season, now holds a 100-57-19 career record in eight seasons at the helm.

Morris Knolls-Hills improved to 5-5-1 on the season.
