Jan. 2 notebook: Mountain Lakes-Boonton impresses in win

MOUNTAIN LAKES-BOONTON PICKS UP IMPRESSIVE WIN

Thanks to a hat trick from A.J. Wenzel, Mountain Lakes-Boonton earned a 4-1 win over Montville in a Haas division battle at Mennen Arena.

Cody Roller stopped 26 shots for Mountain Lakes-Boonton, which picked up a divisional win for the first time in two seasons. It is now 1-3 in the Haas division this year and 2-4 overall- matching last year’s win total already (2-15).

Montville dropped its third game in a row and is now 1-2 in the Haas.

HIGH POINT-WALLKILL VALLEY-KITTATINNY WINS FOURTH-STRAIGHT

Michael Sadowski had two goals and an assist to lead High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny to a 6-2 win over Morris Catholic-St. Elizabeth at Mennen Arena in a Charette battle.

Joshua Custode had a goal and two assists, while Alex Sonvico scored twice and James Sonvico chipped in with a goal. Landon Healy made 17 saves as the team improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the Charette division- which is good enough for second place behind 4-0 Newton-Lenape Valley. It marked the fourth-straight win for the program.

Mercer Acuna and Tyler Raucci each scored for Morris Catholic, which is now 0-9 overall with an 0-3 mark in the Charette.
