Dec. 21 notebook: Gill St. Bernard’s improves to 3-0 in Haas

TRAMONTANO KEEPS GILL ST. BERNARD’S UNBEATEN IN HAAS

Gill St. Bernard’s improved to 3-0 in the Haas division with a 3-1 win over Mountain Lakes-Boonton at Mennen Arena.

Julian Tramontano was involved in all three goals for Gill St. Bernard’s, scoring twice with an assist to bring him up to 17 points in just five games for the Knights (4-1). Brendan Whiteley also scored in the win. Luc Jansson made 20 saves.

A.J. Wenzel scored the only goal for Mountain Lakes-Boonton, which dropped to 0-3 in divisional play and 1-4 overall.

MORRISTOWN-BEARD RACES PAST BERNARDS-SOMERVILLE-MIDDLESEX

Thanks to a six-point effort from Evan Jones and a balanced effort across the board, Morristown-Beard took down Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex, 10-0, in a crossover game at Mennen Arena.

Jones, a junior, registered two goals and four assists for his career-best point output in a single game. Eight different players got on the scoresheet for the Crimson, and all of them had at least two points.

Hudson Salvador and John Gonnella each had a goal and three assists, with Ryan Tartaglione tallied two goals and two assists. Nick Squashic dished out four assists and Kevin Fraga added two goals and an assist. Mason Hriczov stopped all 10 shots he faced for his first career shutout as his team improved to 3-1-1 overall.

Bernards-Somerville-Middlesex’s Baylyn Shankman recorded the 1,000th save of her career in a 29-save effort. BSM fell to 2-3-1 with the loss.

CHATHAM WINS FOURTH IN A ROW

Matt Nacinovich scored two goals for Chatham as it won its fourth game in a row with a 4-1 triumph over Frisch in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena.

Thomas White had a goal and two assists, while Luc D’Costa added a goal and an assist for Chatham, which is now 4-2 after an 0-2 start to the year.

Chatham out-shot Frisch, 45-28 in the game.

MENDHAM SHUT OUT BY SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD

Despite firing 47 shots towards Scotch Plains-Fanwood goalie Michael Loglisci, Mendham was shut out, 1-0, in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena.

Gavin Thrun stopped 30 of 31 shots for Mendham, which fell to 3-2-1.
