THREE STARS OF THE WEEK (Dec. 7-15)
Rylan Gibbons, Kinnelon-Jefferson-Sparta, G, Sr.
The senior netminder picked up right where he left off last season, putting forth a .982 save percentage in two wins over Madison and Morris Knolls-Hills this week. He surrendered just one goal to Madison, before recording a 29-save shutout in an impressive 4-0 win over Morris Knolls-Hills for the program’s first win over a Mennen opponent since the tri-op came together in 2020.
Matt Nacinovich, Chatham, F, Jr.
Nacinovich will go down in history as having scored the first regular-season overtime goal in MCSSIHL history, as his game-winner with four seconds left in overtime lifted Chatham to a 3-2 win over Mendham on Wednesday. Through four games, he has nine points (3 g., 6 a.), and had a secondary assist on Thomas White’s overtime winner for the Cougars in a win over Morristown on Friday.
Joseph Gasparro, Parsippany Regional, D, Jr.
Parsippany Regional is off to its best start in recent memory with a 2-1 record, and Gasparro has been right in the middle of it. He has a team-high nine points (5 g., 4 a.), and recorded his first career hat trick in a 6-2 win over Vernon on Thursday. He had just three goals and two assists all of last season, and helped his team earn back-to-back wins for the first time in several years.
