WEST MORRIS STAYS UNDEFEATED WITH ANOTHER DOMINANT EFFORT
West Morris has won back-to-back Haas Cups- and while it is still early in the season- its making a strong early case as a team that can pull off the three-peat.
The Wolfpack put together another dominant effort, picking up a 6-0 win over Park Regional to improve to 3-0 overall and in the Haas division at Mennen Arena.
West Morris has scored 27 goals in three games, an eye-popping average of nine goals per game. Michael Ferry and Ben Barnhill each recorded two goals and an assist, with Tommy Togno and Jake Salamone each dishing out two assists. Zach Knopf finished with a goal and an assist, while Rhone Armijo also found the back of the net.
Freshman Michael Treiber stopped all 16 shots he faced to earn his first career shutout. The Wolfpack out-shot Park Regional, 37-16.
MENDHAM RALLIES PAST CLIFTON-CEDAR GROVE-PASSAIC VALLEY
Facing a 3-1 second period deficit, Mendham scored three unanswered goals to take home a 4-3 win over Clifton-Cedar Grove-Passaic Valley at Montclair State Arena.
Ian Aitkenhead got the comeback started midway through the second period with a goal. Then, Brandon Eigner scored just under five minutes into the third to knot the score at three, before freshman Denis Nunan scored his second of the game to put his team in the lead for good.
Eigner and Aitkenhead each finished with a goal and an assist, with Jake Fox picking up two assists. Gavin Thrun made 28 saves to earn the win in his first start of the year.
Mendham is now 2-1 to open the year.
POPE JOHN WINS ON ROAD WITH BALANCED EFFORT
Four different players found the back of the net for Pope John in a 4-1 win over Paul VI-Camden Catholic at Flyers SkateZone in Voorhees.
Nicholas Colatrella, Matt Hughes, and Luke Jarosiewicz each finished with a goal and an assist. Hunter Parillo also scored, while Jack Jarosiewicz and Robbie Myshkoff each dished out two assists. In total, seven players found their way onto the scoresheet for the Lions, which evened up their record at 2-2.
Anthony Connetta made 23 saves in goal for Pope John, which out-shot Paul VI-Camden Catholic, 53-24.
MORRISTOWN-BEARD GIRLS TAKE DOWN RYE DAY
Morristown-Beard picked up a big win in WIHLMA play with an impressive 6-1 win over Rye Country Day (N.Y.) on the road.
Reid Snyder had a three-point game with a goal and two assists. Brooklyn Chen, Jessica Sperling, and Kailin Kane each had a goal and an assist. Sylie Sawale and Julie Jasaitis each picked up a goal, as the Crimson improved their record to 2-1 on the year.
Morristown-Beard out-shot Rye Day 51-10, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet. Hannah Mortazavi finished with nine saves in the win.
