Dec. 14 notebook: Montville rallies to win in OT, Parsippany wins back-to-back

MONTVILLE RALLIES TO BEAT HIGH POINT-WALLKILL-VALLEY KITTATINNY IN OT

Cole Riley scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead Montville to a thrilling 7-6 comeback victory over High Point-Wallkill Valley-Kittatinny at Mennen Arena.

High Point led, 5-2 in the second period, before Montville scored four-straight goals to take the lead. Aiden Stepien scored just before the end of the second period, before Logan Engle scored twice in the opening five minutes of the third to tie it up. Matt Trifari gave his team the lead just a minute later, but High Point got the tying goal from Michael Sadowski with just over five minutes left in the third.

Montville outshot High Point 49-20 in the game. Landon Healy made 42 saves for High Point in the loss.

PARSIPPANY WINS BACK-TO-BACK FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2019-20

Parsippany Regional continued its impressive start to the year, as it took down Vernon 6-2 at Mennen Arena to improve to 2-0 in the Charette division.

It marked the first back-to-back wins for the program since the 2019-20 season, when it defeated Passaic Tech and West Orange in consecutive games on Jan. 11 and 14. Its also the first time since 2018-19 that the program has earned at least two divisional wins in a season.

Joseph Gasparro finished with three goals and two assists, earning the first hat trick of his career. Robert Hemenway had two goals and two assists, while Max Ingersoll had a goal and an assist and Matt Hemenway had two assists. Andrew Nicholas stopped 20 of 22 shots in the win.

Luke Zabriske scored both goals for Vernon. Brady Hendricks made 51 saves in the losing effort.

Parsippany out-shot Vernon, 57-22 in the game, as it earned its first win over the Vikings since the 2015-16 season.

RANDOLPH ROLLS PAST MADISON

Randolph’s offense has been on fire to start the 2023-24 season, and that continued on Thursday as it picked up a 10-0 win over Madison at Mennen Arena.

The Rams have now scored 25 goals in three wins over Morristown, Morris Knolls-Hills, and Madison.

Daniel Sharkey had a hat trick and an assist for his second-career hat trick. Ian Stock and Jase Zangara each chipped in with two goals and an assist for Randolph.

John Krynicki made nine saves to pick up his first career shutout. Randolph out-shot Madison, 40-9 in the game.
