DELBARTON FALLS TO DON BOSCO IN BACK-AND-FORTH GAME

In an early-season Gordon Conference battle of two of the potentially top three teams in New Jersey, it was Don Bosco which edged out a 4-3 win over Delbarton at the Ice Vault in Wayne.

Don Bosco pulled out the win thanks to the tying goal with 7:18 left in the third from Matt Bassolina, followed by the go-ahead goal with 4:13 left, a power play tally from Dean Toskos.

After falling behind in the first period, Delbarton responded with goals from Jack Ross and Liam Donnelly early in the second to take the lead. After Toskos tied it back up with 6:30 left in the second, Egor Andreev put home the rebound to give Delbarton the lead going into the third period.

Jack Ross and Liam Donnelly each finished with a goal and an assist for Delbarton. George Cote finished with 33 saves on 37 shots in the loss.

It marked Delbarton’s first loss in regular season Gordon Conference play since the 2021-22 season, snapping a 14-game in-conference unbeaten streak. It will be back on the ice on Wednesday to start a back-to-back with Pingry, followed by Gloucester Catholic.
